A surprisingly strong performance by German filmmakers at the Cannes Festival. Wim Wenders is showing two films, and a German actress is also represented with two projects
The Berlin cult director is showing two films at the festival in Cannes (May 16 to 27). As a special screening, he is presenting his 3D documentary “The Noise of Time” about the artist Anselm Kiefer, with “Perfect Days” he is in competition for the Palme d’Or.
And another German talent is prominently represented on the Croisette. Sandra Hüller can be seen with Christian Friedel in Jonathan Glazer’s film “Zone of Interest” and also plays in “Anatomie d’une chute” by Justine Triet. Both films are in competition. Also included are the new films by Ken Loach, Aki Kaurismäki, Jessica Hausner, Wes Anderson, Todd Haynes and many more.
The race for the Palme d’Or is opened by the film “Jeanne du Barry” with Johnny Depp. Out of competition are Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” and the new “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny”.
It promises to be a good year in cinemas.
