Wim Opbrouck has strong plans for the North Sea

The IOBZ describes itself as a meeting place between art, science and economics. Artists, entrepreneurs, scientists and the government can exchange experiences and knowledge, but also motivate and inspire each other.

“Eleventh Province”

The project is an initiative of actor Wim Opbrouck and his manager Tania Berkovitch. Opbrouck himself invariably calls the North Sea the eleventh province of our country. “I am very proud to become mayor of our eleventh province today, namely our North Sea,” said Mayor Bart Tommelein.

Symphonic orchestra on sandbank

The Institute for the Research of the Enchantment of the Seas is currently working on a first film. In the documentary, a team of scientists and artists, composed by Wim Opbrouck, will set out on an expedition. In 2024, the IOBZ also hopes to show off with a tough stunt. The intention is to have an 85-piece orchestra play on the Broersbank, a sandbank 100 meters from the beach of Koksijde. However, the sandbank in question is only exposed twice a year during extreme spring tides. Brussels Philharmonic is already enthusiastic about the special plan.
