Wim gets booster shot at home: ‘Want to enjoy my great-grandchild for a long time’

GGD Hart voor Brabant in Veghel has a mobile injection team that will deliver the booster shot at home to people who find it difficult to move around for medical reasons. First the team visited the nursing homes and now it is the turn of the elderly living at home. And they are very happy with this home puncture service. For example Annie and Wim.

It is half past eight in the morning when the mobile screening team is packed and ready to leave from the screening location in Veghel. This Tuesday there are nine addresses in Uden on the list. All from people who are unable or difficult to come to the GGD themselves. In all cases, it is arranged through the GP that people can get an injection at home.

‘No Moderna’
Annie, 81, is happy with the service. “I have difficulty walking and walk with a walker. My daughter lives in Arnhem, so she can’t just come and help. I absolutely cannot go to the GGD myself.” Annie knows what she wants: “There is one condition, I definitely don’t want a Moderna shot because I’ve heard too many negative stories about side effects. I only want Pfizer, because I had that last time too.”

That wish came true. Annie got the Pfizer booster. The pricking didn’t mean much to her, although she was a bit apprehensive about it.

After Annie, 75-year-old Wim from Uden is next. He is just recovering from open heart surgery. Going to the GGD himself is also absolutely not an option for Wim.

great grandchild
Wim is visibly happy with the visit of the mobile injection team: “I am very happy that I now receive the booster shot, then I am finally protected. I have just had a great-grandchild, his name is Tobias and I hope to be able to hear from him for a long time to come. to enjoy.” Within a minute, Wim also has the shot. The mobile jab team moves on, on to the next booster.
