The center of the national team acknowledges that winning the Eurobasket “will be very difficult”

The center Willy Hernangómez recognized this Tuesday, in the presentation of the Spanish team that will compete in the next European basketball championship, that winning said tournament “is a very difficult goal”although he stated that he does not give up “anything”.
The New Orleans Pelicans player, at the official start of the preparation of the Spanish team for Eurobasket 2022, fondly recalled “the experience of 2017”, when he won playing in the national team for the first time with his brother Juancho, a European bronze that he values more “as the years go by”.
“We always have to aspire to more”, added the 28-year-old from Madridwho also admitted the “responsibility of being “one of the veterans” of the team: “It is an illusion to have that importance over the youngsters.”
He also appeared during the act, at the Daoiz y Velarde Municipal Sports Center in the Spanish capital, the youngest of the Hernangómez, Juancho, who confessed that “it was a dream come back with the national team.”
“As long as I can come, I will continue to do so,” assured the Toronto Raptors power forwardwho was unable to attend the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to a ban from the Minnesota Timberwolves, his club at the time, following a shoulder injury.
Juan Núñez, from Real Madrid and another of the national team’s names for being, at 18, the brand-new U-20 European champion with Spain and tournament MVP, explained that “it’s a great dream” to go to the absolute European championship.
“It is an award for the work done in the training categories, now I have to take advantage of the experience,” added Núñez.
