Willem II is fined for rioting fans after the match against NAC Breda

Willem II must pay a fine of 12,500 euros after disturbances surrounding the last match against NAC Breda. At the beginning of September, a group of supporters threw fireworks on the field. They also threw things at officers. Willem II must also play the match against FC Emmen in early December without the support of the fanatical supporters in section E. This has been determined by the independent prosecutor of professional football.

The derby in the King Willem II Stadium in Tilburg was stopped on September 3 after 52 minutes of play, because supporters misbehaved during and after the match. Supporters of the home team threw cups and fireworks onto the field.

They then turned against the Mobile Unit. They threw beer cans, sticks, trash cans, containers and fences at officers. Two officers suffered minor injuries to their heads and bodies. One of them has been at home with whiplash ever since.

The police have since arrested several Willem II supporters. At the beginning of this month, four supporters were given 180 hours of community service by the police judge. Together they must also pay damages of several thousand euros to two officers. According to the police judge, these four fans were at the forefront of the riots.
