Willem II has won his sixth competition in the Kitchen Champion Division. The team of coach Kevin Hofland won 1-2 against Jong Ajax on Monday evening. The Tricolores displace Roda JC from fifth place in the rankings due to the win, Jong Ajax (weakened by all kinds of international obligations) remains thirteenth.
The first goal on De Toekomst was scored by Sontje Hansen, who struck out hard in the 21st minute from about 18 meters. According to a number of players from the Tilburg club, the goal should have been rejected due to hands by the Ajax player, but referee Martijn Vos had a different opinion.
A few minutes later the game came to an end for Jizz Hornkamp. Hofland then took him to the side, probably because the trainer was not satisfied. The striker left the field frustrated.
His replacement, Jeremy Bokila, was also barely able to force anything at first, although he was close to the equalizer just before half-time. That would be undeserved at that time, because the home club came out better. The game also lasted short for the other attacker who was kicking off with the Tricolores, Michael de Leeuw. He was allowed to take a shower in peace.
A few minutes after the restart, Hofland’s first substitution worked out well: Bokila beat the Ajax defense on strength and speed and made it 1-1. He reacted attentively to a far kick by keeper Kostas Lamprou. Then the same substitute was close to 1-2. That came after all: former Feyenoord player Lucas Woudenberg knocked the ball beautifully over Tom de Graaff, the keeper of Jong Ajax.
Bokila was replaced (injured) moments later, but he had shown himself. From the side, he watched as his team managed to hold on to the lead and eventually took a hard-fought victory.
