The king received a preview of the Tryat performance on Tuesday evening Salt handed over a large Terschellinger flag with the crown logo and the name Willem Club in the Tonnenloods. Cupido, known locally as Flang, was the caterer and jumped at the chance. “About fourteen years ago we were sitting around a table with four people in café Lieman. It turned out that all four of us were called Willem and then founded the Willem Club.”
The Willem Club only has a few rules. “We don’t talk about politics and not about the church, we keep it fun,” says 60-year-old Cupido. The club now has about fifty Terschellinger members, from eighteen to well into their 90s. “And so a few honorary members.”
