Willem-Alexander and Máxima on state visit to Austria for the first time

After they celebrated the 17th birthday of daughter Alexia on Sunday, it is time for Willem-Alexander and Máxima to go back to work on Monday. The royal couple is going to Austria for a state visit with the themes: sustainable mobility, connected society and cultural exchange.

On Monday, the king and queen already have a busy program. As soon as they arrive in Vienna in the company of Foreign Affairs Minister Wopke Hoekstra, they will attend a welcome ceremony at the Hofburg, among other things, and will lay a wreath for the victims of the Second World War at the Namenmonument in Ostarrichi Park.

In the evening, Federal President Alexander van der Bellen will offer Willem-Alexander and Máxima a state banquet at Belvedere Palace.

THROUGH THE TRAM THROUGH VIENNA

On the second day of the visit, the royal couple goes to a residential area of ​​the future, among other things, and then returns by tram to the Viennese city center. In the evening Willem-Alexander and Máxima offer the Federal President a concert by the Nederlands Kamerkoor in the Konzerthaus as a thank you for the hospitality.

The choir will then perform the world premiere of Van Gogh in Mea spectacular music theater show in which the richness of the painting of Vincent van Gogh and Gustav Klimt comes to life.

TO GRAZ BY TRAIN

On Wednesday, our monarch and queen will conclude in the city of Graz, which they will visit by train. There they speak with the Austrian climate minister. The entire visit there is devoted to sustainability, innovation and women in the sciences.

TRADITIONAL SKI HOLIDAY

It is also the first time that the royal couple pays a state visit to Austria. But privately, the royal family has been going to Lech for years, for the traditional ski holiday and annual photo opportunity.
