Costello Hautamäki reveals that Olli Herman’s song will soon be heard also in the form of new Popeda music.
Popeda announced today on New Year’s Day that he has appointed his new soloist Olli Hermanin. The renewed line-up will be seen on stage for the first time in March at Tavara-asema in Tampere.
But will we also hear new material from Popeda in the future with his new soloist?
Of course, answers the guitarist Costello Tomb.
– I have certain criteria that we can call ourselves a rock band. Making new music is definitely part of that, Hautamäki assures.

According to Hautamäki, the making of the new album starts as soon as the new collaborators are found.
– The new line-up must be recorded straight away, and the gang must be able to hear what kind of story it is.
Popeda’s recording contract with Universal Music ended with the last one, which came out in 2017 Smell Popeda! with the album.
However, Hautamäki reveals that record companies have already shown their interest with the release of a new soloist recording.
– The first offer came right away, Hautamäki laughs.
However, it is not yet time to focus on making a record, but on training for the upcoming gig.
– At least not before that, but right after.

Hautamäki hopes that the new Popeda material can be heard before the summer.
Olli Herman told Iltalehte earlier on Monday that there have been no discussions about new music yet.
Another hundred years of Popeda
According to Herman, Hautamäki says he is “as excited as a little boy” to welcome Popeda.
– We have already held training sessions with Olli. It’s so great to see when everyone is sincerely excited and the bottom of the stomach is tingling that which one will get to the gig already. That’s always a good sign.
Popedan and Pate Mustajärvi the story ended with a big concert organized in September. Hautamäki and Mustajärvi have been in contact throughout the fall regarding practical band issues and the singer’s upcoming book.

Mustajärvi’s successor was kept a secret even from the master himself until the last moments.
– He was told yesterday that there is no need to read the newspaper, Hautamäki reveals.
Hautamäki believes that Mustajärvi is happy that his musical legacy will continue through Herman.
Hautamäki hopes for the same for himself when his time in the band ends.
– I want Popeda to continue for the next hundred years, let’s just say it like this. Popeda’s centenary concert must be done. I may not be at that stage anymore.
