Will Uefa scrap the Gazprom deal?

One of the most prominent Uefa sponsors is the Russian Gazprom group. This should also be seen at the EM 2024 in Germany. But this partnership could soon come to an end.

Uefa is apparently thinking of terminating the contract with sponsor Gazprom. The Times reports. The reason for this is the Russian invasion of Ukraine under Vladimir Putin. Uefa had previously moved the 2022 Champions League final from St. Petersburg to Paris. Now the termination of the partnership could follow.

This was extended by three years in May 2021. Up to and including the EM 2024 in Germany, Gazprom should be prominently featured in Uefa competitions for around 48 million euros a year. This could now come to an end. According to the report, the natural gas company should no longer be seen in the round of 16 second leg matches in the Champions League at the beginning of March.

There is no statement from Uefa yet.
