Will there finally be an MFA in 2e Exloërmond? Borger-Odoorn will release money next year

The Borger-Odoorn council wants to continue investing in the coming year ‘despite the financially difficult times’. For example, in a new multifunctional accommodation in 2e Exloërmond.

The council reserves 50,000 euros for research into such a new MFA. The municipality has been planning to have an MFA built in 2e Mond for some time now. Borger, Valthermond and Nieuw-Buinen already have such a building. This has not yet happened in 2e Exlöermond.

What exactly the MFA should look like, or where in 2e Mond it will be located, is up to the municipal council. “It is an accommodation for football, not necessarily for a club,” emphasizes councilor Ankie van Tongeren (CDA/Christenunie), referring to the dispute between De Treffer ’16 and TEVV. The latter has now been discontinued.

Changing room for football players

Football club De Treffer ’16 has problems with the changing rooms; for example, the members use temporary containers to change clothes, and they also used the Hunsow hall, but the sports hall is not built for that.

The village hall is also outdated and in need of a sustainable replacement. “It is as leaky as a basket,” says councilor Henk Zwiep (PvdA). In addition, two primary schools in 2e Mond need renovated buildings. Plans were already in place to tackle school buildings in the municipality. “We already knew that we were going to work on the schools, we knew that the village hall was a bottleneck and we knew that football was a bottleneck,” says Van Tongeren. The council wants to combine these things.

Other villages are also discussed in the budget. For example, money has been reserved for the renovation or new construction of the primary schools CKC School 59 and OBS 75 in Nieuw-Buinen. In addition, the council has set aside money for traffic adjustments to the Zuiderdiep in Drouwenermond.

Club building Nieuw-Buinen

The mayor and aldermen also make a total of 1.6 million available for other sports matters: 750,000 euros for the renovation of the Sportpark Borger building and 872,000 euros for transferring the club building of Voetbalvereniging Nieuw-Buinen to the association. Borger-Odoorn wants to dispose of all properties that do not actually belong to the tasks of a municipality.

Finally, local taxes will increase in 2024: an average household will soon have to pay 18 euros more per year. The city council will meet on Thursday, November 9, to discuss the budget.
