Lauri Lepistö led Kollen’s kingship with ingenious tactics. The Finn, who finished in 12th place, scored twice at the finish line.
On a scale from four to ten, how do you feel now Lauri Lepistö?
– Now I don’t feel so good after I threw up twice after crossing the finish line, Lepistö begins.
The acid attack hit the body and the energy came from the bottom floor to the top floor after the Holmenkollen 50 km traditional style mass start race.
– Of course top skiing warms the mind. When before Christmas 40+ skied places, I wondered if there would be anything left of this. This gives me faith, said Kouvola, who lives in Rovaniemi.
Jämin Jänte’s skier was twelfth in Kollen’s journey to the throne. It is clearly the best mc result of my career. The previous personal top result was 18th place.
– I’ve watched the games on TV, why can’t I be in that group. On Sunday I got to it. It was nice to ski. The end was just the same as elsewhere. When Iivo Niskanen started to hobble on the last 8.3 kilometer lap, the oxygen was a bit tight.

Lepistö even led Sunday’s race with an ingenious tactic. While the top group changed skis in the middle of the race, Lepistö skied four out of six rounds with the same pair of Madshus skis.
– The first couple was really good. When it lost a bit of grip, it was easy to ski. The ski was so good and I thought that the second ski might not be so good, so I decided to continue with the first pair, Lepistö times.
– I went to Norway Mattis Stenshagen’s with. I yelled at him at the end of the third lap not to change skis. However, he changed, the Finn added.
Lepistö was involved in the battle for the very best places until about 44 kilometers, until he had to give in to the top group of ten men.
