Will René van der Gijp drop his good friend Theo Maassen now that it is really starting to look like he has committed domestic violence? “It doesn’t really make me happy, no.”
Theo Maassen’s wife states that he broke her nose and that she is the victim of domestic violence. The comedian seems to be spared for the time being, but the weekly magazine Privé is now with one follow up which quotes from emails in which he more or less confirms his dark side. Is he now game over?
Bond with Theo
René van der Gijp was remarkably mild about Theo’s alleged misconduct last week in Today Inside, but according to colleague Wilfred Genee, this was because he has a ‘special bond’ with the comedian.
René himself downplayed that: “I have no special bond with him. I have been to his show six, seven or eight times in the past five years and then I just had a drink with him afterwards in the foyer or in the corridor or in the hall. For the rest, we text each other every now and then.”
René not happy
René made it easy last week by saying that he had not read the article about Theo. “I agree with Wouter (de Winther, ed.) that if I were him I would come up with a statement with my wife, because it is not nice when this is said about you.”
René has now read Privé’s reporting, including the follow-up, and he expresses himself more critically Today Inside. “It was a lot of the same, but it doesn’t make you happy. I mean, it doesn’t really make you happy, no.”
Not anonymous
Wilfred Genee believes that the instructions are becoming more and more concrete. “The lady in question is not anonymous either, just gives her name and also shows a photo of herself. You sometimes complain about that, that people do it anonymously. She doesn’t do that.”
Johan Derksen: “Yes, she is now coming out of the hat, but I think… I continue to think one thing: if you are treated unfairly and Theo has committed criminal offenses, then you report it to the police, but she reports it to Private to destroy Theo and burn him down to his ankles. That was the goal: revenge. She’s just a spiteful woman.”
Anna Nooshin
By vindictive woman, Johan refers to mistress Angela, the whistleblower in this story. Johan: “Yes, but he also grabbed that mother-in-law of hers, didn’t he?”
Huh?! René: “No, Anna Nooshin’s mother-in-law.”
Johan: “Yes, I can’t keep up with it all anymore.”
Wilfred: “There are also emails in which he also indicates…”
René: “Yes, but he often says that in private, that he is not quite right.”
Intense lyrics
Wilfred makes it clear that he thinks Theo is indeed guilty. “He also says that he makes a lot of people sad and has actually been trying to make people unhappy from an early age. Those are intense lyrics. You would almost think that someone needs help, right, when you read it like that.”
Johan: “Yes, but if you have good intentions with such a man, then you don’t go to the Privé. Then you know that he will be destroyed, because this affects his career very naturally, right?”
Wilfred: “Yes, but it is not innocent when you read it like that. Something has to be done.”
