Will Red Bull finally retire McLaren’s legendary winning record? This is how previous entrepreneurs have stumbled

Many have been close, but the victory march has always been interrupted at a critical moment.

Red Bull’s danger spot. Lando Norris cleared ahead of Max Verstappen at the start of the British GP. The Dutchman came back to the top of the race after a while. F1 can be watched on Elisa Viihde Viaplay and v Sport channels.

Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominate the F1 series by far at the moment. The victory at the British GP brought the team equal with the most dominant team in the history of the series.

Verstappen’s eighth win of the season continued Red Bull’s perfect season. The team has won all ten races this season. When the streak continues with one more with the first place in the final race of last season, the team is sailing with the tailwind of 11 consecutive victories.

With that result, Red Bull moved up to share the longest winning streak of all time with McLaren’s 1988 performance.

Winning streaks

11 McLaren, Brazil 1988–Belgium 1988

11 Red Bull, Abu Dhabi 2022 – Great Britain 2023 *

10 Ferrari, Canada 2002–Japan 2002

10 Mercedes, Japan 2015–Russia 2016

10 Mercedes, Monaco 2016–Singapore 2016

10 Mercedes, Brazil 2018–France 2019

Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost equally won every race of that season. To the team’s chagrin, the only slip happened in Monza, where Williams had to be overtaken on a lap Jean-Louis Schlesser knocked Senna out of the race lead a couple of laps before the finish line.

Without that mistake, McLaren’s winning streak would have been 16 races long.

Of course, you can also order Red Bull. If George Russell wouldn’t have surprised the bull herd last season in Brazil, Red Bull’s winning streak would be as long as 22 races.

Mersu’s placement takes place in the 2016 season Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg wouldn’t have kicked each other out in Spain, the team would have won 20 races in a row.

When continuing on the jostling line, Ferrari’s stumbling was seen in 2004. Juan-Pablo Montoyan while working Michael Schumacher behind the safety car, Ferrari’s winning streak of eight races was broken in Monaco. It was followed by a victory march of seven races, so the streak of 15 first places remained a dream.

Red Bull has a chance to dethrone 1988’s McLaren from the top spot in this statistic in two weeks’ time in Hungary.
