Lana Del Rey’s new album, Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, is number one on Wednesday’s (March 27) forecast UK Album Charts – and thus before Depeche Mode’s “Memento Mori”. Both albums were released on March 24th.
Should the singer consolidate the top spot by next Friday (March 31) and thus beat Depeche Mode in the eagerly watched race for the top spot, her current LP would mark her sixth number one album in just eleven years (” Born To Die 2012, Ultraviolence 2014, Lust for Life 2017, Norman Fucking Rockwell! 2019, Chemtrails Over The Country Club 2021).
For Dave Gahan and Martin Gore it will probably be the best chart and starting position since the 2013 release of “Delta Machine”. The LP had reached second place at the time.
The two previously highly anticipated records rank ahead of Fall Out Boy’s So Much (for) Stardust, Pink Floyd’s 50th anniversary re-issue Dark Side of the Moon and Gettin’ Old in the new releases rankings Country singer Luke Combs, who complete the top five.
