When FC Schalke 04 transferred 15 million euros to VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2019 and thus secured the services of Ozan Kabak, the miners were celebrated for a real transfer coup. The young central defender quickly became a regular and increased his market value considerably. When the coffers were empty as a result of the sporting downturn, it seemed logical that one wanted to make money with Kabak. A plan that probably doesn’t really work out.
Since the Turkish national player could not really do any self-promotion either during his loan to Liverpool in the second half of the 2020/21 season or during his current loan engagement at FC Norwich, FC Schalke 04 is “pictureAccording to him, he is now ready to let his jewel go for less than ten million euros.
For comparison: Kabak’s contract contains an exit clause that would have allowed him to change in 2021 only for a payment of 45 million euros. A little later, Liverpool would have had to put only 21 million euros on the table for a permanent commitment, but decided against this step. Norwich would even get the bid for 13 million euros.
FC Schalke 04 will not get rid of Kabak at Norwich
However, for the agreed purchase obligation to take effect, the Premier League club would have to keep the class and Kabak play enough games – neither of which will probably happen.
The 22-year-old should at least return to Gelsenkirchen after the season, where his contract will not end until the summer of 2024.
According to “Bild”, Kabak probably doesn’t have a future at Schalke. The defender, who, to make matters worse, has a thigh injury and will not be used again this season, should bring in money. Should a sale not work out, Schalke would allegedly be ready for another loan if necessary.
