With the leaders wavering between we can say it, we don’t say it, weighing glances and finally a stretched yes. And why not, for that matter. The series, or miniseries (last night the last episode aired it gathered 4 million 810 thousand people; 26.6% share)was still a success with audiences and unconditional love for Vanessa Scalera (the turning point of his career; that title which, making provincial Hollywood experts: puts an actor «on the map»). But even without real confirmation, How can we think of not continuing the story of the deputy prosecutor of Matera after last night’s beautiful ending?

The case of the episode concerns Pietro (Massimiliano Gallo)suspected of having killed Sara (Sara Drago)the paleontologist with whom he bonded over the writing course and who is found died inside the Archaeological Museum. Just as she was with him for a nocturnal excursion to see the whale Isabella 2 million years ago (his last famous discovery). Someone dragged her away into the dark, strangling her.
Was it Pietro? No, but having her husband under investigation and also unfaithful throws Imma into despair, and in a precarious position in the prosecutor’s office. She decides to take a leave of absence, but she doesn’t stay put. Together with Diana (Barbara Ronchi) and Calogiuri (Alessio Lapice) activates a parallel and unauthorized investigation to search for the real killer. Even if in truth he just wants to beat Pietro.
Meanwhile Valentina confesses that, having dropped out of the oriental university in Naples, he wants to undertake the path of being a magistrate. Imma is surprised and pleased, mother’s heart. But, what does this matter last episode of Imma Tataranniin a succession of crime twists that are of little interest, is as always the wife-husband-date triangle. Thrown into crisis by the betrayal (“did you love her, Pietro?”), the couple has interesting moments of confrontation, which give depth to the plot. Unpleasant sensations of dejection emerge, of running outside to breathe, of catching up – unsuccessfully – with the partner. “General Imma”, it was never clear whether she loved or tolerated Pietro who at most reads comics and has now thrown himself into crime novels («I did it to understand you better, you and your work»), she turns out to be jealous and fickle. Stalled.

In torment, between tears and self-loathing, just when it seems that what Calogiuri remembers doesn’t matter to him (“I don’t give a shit about you anymore, just get yourself killed”, she screams in the face of the young man who explains to her about Romaniello and Latronico, who is also alive), passion breaks out with the marshal. Who throws himself into a brutal kiss in the middle of the countryside, suitably obscured in the developments by a ruin on which the car stops (yes, like David Lean did in Ryan’s daughter).
It’s a very well acted moment, not just the kiss, their entire confrontation, together with those between Imma and Pietro. Moments in which fiction – breaking through vernacularism and ineffective jokes – allows the characters to advance. Forcing them not to recognize themselves, to make barriers fall. In fact, if Calugiuri has now regained an almost superhuman confidence after the coma, Imma, on the other hand – in the personal investigation of feelings – is completely level. Naturally, in a no-man’s land and with the balance of power broken, they finally manage to meet/clash. Not without immediate consequences, which my dear friend Diana deals with.

We know the shooting they could begin next January and that all the actors have been reconfirmed.
