Gerard Joling does not seem to want to make a major issue of the Even Tot Hier broadcast, in which an attempt was made to damage him. “I would just print a shirt with ‘engnek’ on it!”
The two presenters of Even Tot Hier have come under heavy criticism: the attempt to seriously harm Gerard Joling by serving some incorrect videos from his past to their more than 2 million viewers. The reason? Gerard has been critical of the plans of GroenLinks-PvdA leader Frans Timmermans.
‘Not so chic’
So far Gerard has only commented on The Telegraph. “Not so chic, those kissing videos, but they made me laugh. But to call me a pervert is a bit of a shame,” he says.
The musical millionaire does not choose to go on the attack and, for example, shame the men of Even Tot Hier. He opts, and this is useful from a media point of view, for a perspective view of this issue. “There are worse things going on in the world.”
Image damage?
Image expert Zabeth van Veen does not think that Gerard will suffer any damage from this, she says Show news. “I thought it was funny and it suited Gerard Joling, I must say. If you see all those fragments one after the other, it is of course not chic, but Gerard Joling does not have a chic image or anything.”
She thinks that Even Tot Hier did not succeed in damaging Gerard. “The song that was made from it was very funny. I definitely think Gerard can laugh about that. Before Gerard really gets a serious dent in his image, there must be more going on than this.”
‘He laughs it off’
Gerard often responds to this very cleverly, says Zabeth. “He also does not position himself as a very serious person who then gets hurt. He is on TV so often with all kinds of rarities that this could also be included. Gordon could very seriously come back saying that he doesn’t think it’s fair and is angry with so and so, but Gerard Joling cannot. He laughs it off.”
Sandra Schuurhof thinks it’s smart that Gerard is like that. “Isn’t this the only correct way to respond to it? Then you know: okay, tomorrow they will be talking about someone else or something else. And if you take it very seriously, then you are really screwed.”
Engnek
Celebrity photographer William Rutten advises Gerard to bring out a shirt, for example with ‘engnek’ in gold sequins. “If I were Gerard, I would come tomorrow with a shirt with ‘engnek’ on it and then he will sell 100 thousand in a week.”
Sandra: “Yes, or ‘Geer, emigrate’. I saw that too, haha.”
William: “That’s often the best way to come back, I think.”
