The actors also performed the tracks “Boats ‘N Hoes” and “Gin and Juice” with the rapper.
What’s the best way to celebrate Snoop Dogg’s birthday? Of course on stage – complete with cake and candles with which he can light his joint. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly also came up with this idea. On Saturday (October 21), a day after the rapper’s 52nd birthday, the actors surprised him with a serenade after his performance at the “Best Night of Your Life 2” fundraiser.
The show, which consisted primarily of music and comedy, was hosted by Ferrell at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles to benefit the Cancer For College organization. Not only comedians like Jon Stewart, Hasan Minhaj and Patti Harrison entertained the audience, but also musicians like Keanu Reeves’ band Dogstar, Mike McCready from the band Pearl Jam – and finally Snoop Dogg.
The rap legend took the stage after Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly performed his song “Boats ‘N Hoes.” It wasn’t the first time the actors performed the track. In the US film “Step Brothers” (original title: “Step Brothers”) they played the characters Brennan and Dale, who celebrated the song and enjoyed singing together. Snoop Dogg stayed for another track, performing his 1994 hit “Gin and Juice.” Before the artist could leave the stage, Reilly stopped him.
“Yesterday was a very special day,” the mime announced to the audience. “It was Mr. Snoop Dogg’s birthday. We’re about to sing a birthday serenade for the greatest rapper in the world!” A video that the musician shared on Instagram shows Ferrell from backstage rolling a three-tiered birthday cake onto the stage. Snoop Dogg didn’t think twice and pulled out a joint, which he lit using the candles on the cake. As the crowd cheered and applauded, Reilly enthusiastically replied, “That’s what I’m talking about!” The Step Brothers then began a serenade and the crowd sang along.

In 2003, Will Ferrell and Snoop Dogg could be seen together on screen in “Old School – We don’t let anything go to waste”. The actor most recently revived the film when he unexpectedly played the DJ at a party at the University of Southern California, causing quite a stir among the college students.
