Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is having a difficult time at FC Bayern following the arrival of Harry Kane. It is unlikely that the 34-year-old will stay in Munich for a long time. Now rumors are making the rounds about the striker moving to Saudi Arabia.
On Monday the “kicker” reported that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting could leave FC Bayern next summer. The attacker’s contract on Säbener Straße expires in 2024. As things stand, a contract extension is unlikely.
In the current season, the 34-year-old, who was repeatedly set back by minor injuries, has already played 203 competitive minutes for Munich. The Hamburg native scored two goals. However, with Harry Kane, the Munich team has a new attacking superstar in their own ranks. Youngster Mathys Tel is also making an impact this season with strong performances (six goals in eleven appearances).
FC Bayern: Choupo-Moting arouses interest
Therefore, the collaboration between FC Bayern and Choupo-Moting could come to an end soon. According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, it is entirely possible that the Cameroonian will leave the German record champions in the winter. There is said to be interest in the 73-time national player from Saudi Arabia.
Accordingly, several clubs from the desert are interested in the attacker, who attracted attention with 17 goals in 30 competitive games for Munich last season. It is not clear from the report which clubs are involved. If interest from the desert intensifies, the Bundesliga club would consider a transfer fee for the attacker.
The center forward came from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2020. Last season, Choupo-Moting held a regular place at times, particularly in the last half of the season, the veteran shone as a reliable goalscorer.
