Will Delfine Persoon fight for the world title?

Delfine Persoon does not box on the helipad of luxury hotel Burj Al Arab in Dubai, but at a different location in Abu Dhabi. Over the past few weeks, the police inspector has gone from one emotion to another, but tonight she’s just stepping into the ring against Elhem Mekhaled. The 31-year-old French woman holds the WBC interim super featherweight title.

Elhem Mekhaled is the second boxer in the WBC ranking after world champion Alycia Baumgardner. If Delfine wins, she rises to second place and can – if all goes well – fight for the world title. That will not be easy, because the bookmakers only give Persoon an eight percent chance.

When Persoon loses, a wonderful career seems to come to an end. Delfine is now 37 years old and has already indicated several times that it is not much use to continue if she does not beat Mekhaled.
