Wilfred Genee wants a program at 11:30 PM 365 days a year

Wilfred Genee has made a proposal to John de Mol for a daily program at 11:30 PM. “Aren’t you busy enough yet,” he asked. I thought that could easily be added.”

Wilfred Genee’s image that he works so terribly hard has more to do with the average working week of other TV stars than with the number of hours he himself works. According to the presenter, in addition to that hour a day of Today Inside and his weekly program on BNR, he can easily handle some other jobs.

Half past twelve TV

Wilfred especially wants to make TV interviews, he tells it A.D. “When I switched to Talpa in 2018, the idea was that I would also make interview programs, but that never happened. For example, I once suggested to John de Mol to make a program 365 days from 12:30 to 12 noon.”

A program in which he ‘ends the day with one guest in an interview’. What did John think of that? “He started laughing loudly. Aren’t you busy enough yet, he asked. That could easily be added, I thought. Apparently there is an image of me that I am a workaholic, always busy, but that is not so bad.”

Verbally strong

He has a lot of free time, says Wilfred. “I see my children (11 and 14 years old) very often. I take them to school every morning, pick them up again if possible and go to my son’s football matches. Tomorrow he will train with FC Utrecht. Work comes relatively easily to me.”

The presenter hopes to be able to develop himself a little more. “I’m lucky that I’m quite strong verbally and that I have a photographic memory. If I read something once, it’s stuck in my head. I would like to challenge myself to do something new, where I can also show a different side of myself.”
