Wilfred Genee still wants nothing to do with her two years after his clash with Fidan Ekiz. Together with her in one studio? No way! “No, we shouldn’t do that.”
There was a time when Wilfred Genee and Fidan Ekiz were very, very close with each other. In fact, he even taught her the intricacies of the interview trade as a mentor. However, in the summer of 2020, when he joined her at the talk show table of Op1, their good relationship came to an abrupt end.
Wilfred vs Fidan
At the time, Wilfred had a problem with his colleagues from Veronica Inside because of the much-discussed racism special of the program and decided to tell his story once in Op1, with Fidan and her then co-host Jeroen Pauw. The presenter thought that he was questioned far too critically by the two.
It really got out of hand at Op1: Wilfred started screaming hysterically at Fidan after the broadcast, forcing even his wife to intervene. Fidan indicated last December, a year and a half later, that she is open to a reconciliation with Wilfred, but he did not listen to that.
Still ready
Although we are now two years further, Wilfred still seems to be done with Fidan. He hinted that last Friday in the final minute of his talk show Today Inside.
René van der Gijp then joked, pointing to the fact that Wilfred currently presents two talk shows: “If you hurry up, you can still do Op1, huh?”
Wilfred laughs: “Yes, I can just do that. Then I’ve done enough today!”
“Fidan is here!”
René: “But then you really have to hurry, don’t you?”
Wilfred: “Yes, then I have to keep going!”
Johan Derksen teasing: “No, that is not possible, because Fidan is there!”
Wilfred revealingly: “Oh yes, then it will be difficult. Then we definitely shouldn’t do it.”
Unfortunately
All in all, it seems that things will never work out between Fidan and Wilfred. She especially regrets that. She is disappointed with how the broadcast went then, she said some time ago. “Sometimes I don’t think too much. That happened to Wilfred Genee. It was not my intention at all to attack him.”
Wilfred, however, seems determined. He never had contact with Fidan again. “And Jeroen Pauw never called again,” he said at the time.
