Wilfred Genee exploded his colleague Johan Derksen live on TV yesterday. They clashed over the continued criticism of Johan’s cuddling from the discredited John de Mol.
Johan Derksen treats the #MeToo riot around Ajax very differently from the riot around The Voice of Holland and Talpa. Where Johan has been shouting continuously for weeks that Talpa boss John de Mol could have known absolutely nothing, he immediately throws Ajax boss Edwin van der Sar in front of the bus. He must have known something about it and should therefore get out of the way, he thinks.
‘Rob? Fascinating!’
According to TV connoisseur Rob Goossens, who has recently become one of the regular guests of VI Today, that is duplicity of Johan. “Suddenly it is ‘big steps home quickly’ again, while De Mol was treated with velvet gloves in virtually the same situation by virtually the same group,” he says.
Wilfred confronted Johan yesterday in VI Today with that criticism. Johan then: “Look, the last thing I worry about is Rob Goossens when he says something. He sometimes sits here, he is also very welcome, but he just keeps on chatting. He is a freelancer, who sits down everywhere, because he has to chat to be able to send an invoice.”
Goddamnit
According to Johan, there is a big difference between Edwin van der Sar and John de Mol. “There is a big difference. John de Mol has five studios here in the region, he is in an ivory tower in Laren, he races in the car to The Voice to attend a recording, he races there.”
Wilfred knows that John-did-nothing-knew-nothing tune: “We know, it’s all right…”
Then Johan explodes. He bangs his hand on the table furiously. “Can I have a goddamn talk now? Do you know what to do? Going to do the Wilfred Genee show! Then we know one thing for sure: that no one is looking!”
‘I shut my mouth!’
Wilfred: “Now it’s the Johan Derksen show, of course.”
Johan: “I’ll shut up!”
Wilfred: “No, you don’t have to, but you’re saying he can’t know…”
Johan: “Well, you don’t have to tell me what I want to say Wilfred. You can get the hang of it!”
Wilfred: “You already said it! You say that Van der Sar must know and John cannot know. Isn’t that what you say?”
Johan: “I’m not saying anything!”
Small area
Özcan Akyol intervenes: “Do you think Van der Sar knew?”
John: “I don’t know. And if he didn’t know anything, that’s possible, but I can’t imagine that. So I want to explain that: at Ajax you work in a very small area and you meet each other all day long and everyone talks to each other. Look, we don’t see John de Mol for a year, because he is somewhere else, but there they are together.”
René: “He doesn’t come in at The Voice three hours before the recordings, does he? He sits by the camera and walks away again.”
