Wilfred Genee attacked hard on the radio: ‘You’re so worked up!’

Wilfred Genee was brutally attacked on the radio by Martijn Koning, because he does not want to respond to the riot surrounding Today Inside. “You always get so caught up in victimhood!”

It has now been nine days since Today Inside had its very last episode. Johan Derksen had lost the support of the Talpa management and was forced to stop the talk show. Since then it has been very quiet around the men of VI. Only René van der Gijp gave an interview, in which he lashed out at Talpa’s bobo’s.

Wilfred on the beach

Martijn Koning thinks it is weak that the gentlemen are silent, he said to Wilfred Genee yesterday afternoon. The comedian was his sidekick in the program The Friday Move on BNR Nieuwsradio. “You’re making a lot of fuss, just add some fuel to the fire and then you’ll withdraw completely. That is also difficult.”

They consciously choose to do so, explains Wilfred. “It doesn’t make much sense to react in emotions and the emotions have been very high this past week. Then I think: at such a moment it might be useful to pause for a moment. (…) It was a quiet week. I went to the beach in Scheveningen with the kids for a few days.”

Martijn critical

Wilfred avoids responsibility for the VI supporters, Martijn believes. “If you have such a large following and then something like this happens and such a large group of people start to stir and become restless… You also have a responsibility for a very large group, but then you say: ‘We will do that. not for a while.’”

Martijn finds that ‘a bit strange’, he says. “I like you very much, but it seems like you always kind of avoid responsibility. You always get so caught up in victimhood.”

“It’s very cowardly!”

It is a conscious choice to be ‘calm and modest’ for a while, says Wilfred. “Of course you are right that at some point a story has to come out. During the previous riot, Johan and René in particular threw a lot over each other to tell things in the media. We learned from that.”

Martijn: “You can’t throw so much oil on the fire, make so much fuss and then say: ‘Now we will withdraw for a while and I don’t want to talk about it for a while’? It’s not very strong. It is handing out and then lying on the floor yourself. I think it’s very cowardly. You are also the one who should bear the most responsibility for that.”

Then Martijn explodes: “I sometimes think Johan Derksen is a very annoying old fart.”

Wilfred then quickly continues with the rest of the broadcast, pointing out that he is not there as a VI presenter, but as a BNR presenter.

An hour after the radio quarrel, Wilfred addresses Martijn about his outburst of anger. “Are you okay again? You were emotional at the beginning of the broadcast. Are you calmer now? You should have looked at yourself. I’ve never really seen you like this before. You were really worked up.”

Martijn: “If you’re struggling like that and you don’t want to start the conversation, I get a bit worked up.”

Wilfred: “I explained it to you exactly: the conclusion of the previous riot is that it is better to relax for a while and then you can discuss everything again.”
