Wildlands loses Facebook page due to ‘suspicious activities’

Facebook has removed Wildlands from the medium after the social media company observed ‘suspicious activity’. The timing for the zoo is particularly bad, says spokesperson Hanneke Wijshake.

Wildlands’ Facebook page with around 125,000 followers has been down for a while, Wijshake said in a short response. “Suspicious activities had been reported and that is why Meta (parent company of Facebook, ed.) took our page offline.” It is not clear what exactly these activities entail.

“An investigation is now underway into what happened and what those activities were.” Whether Wildlands can put the Facebook page back online or create a new one must also be determined from that investigation.

The fact that the Facebook page is offline during this period is particularly bad for the zoo, Wijshake repeats. “Super annoying. We had hoped that it would be back on the air for Wildnights, but unfortunately that is not the case.”
