Wilders terror suspects remain in detention longer 1Limburg

Seven terror suspects, one of whom comes from Roermond, will remain in prison longer. According to the judiciary, they would like to behead Geert Wilders and Mark Rutte, among others, and to commit a bomb attack at chip company ASML in Veldhoven.

The men, aged between 20 and 31, are said to sympathize with the jihadist ideas of the terrorist group IS. According to the court in Rotterdam, the serious objections for which they are detained are still present.

The suspects were arrested in Eindhoven in September last year. Then it concerned nine men, two of whom were brothers, aged 18 and 26, from Roermond. The youngest heard earlier that he can await his case in freedom.

Garage box
According to the Public Prosecution Service, they trained in an Eindhoven garage. The investigation started last summer on the basis of information from the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD). A number of them spoke during a movie night about the killing or kidnapping of Wilders, Rutte and Baudet. These conversations were intercepted by the AIVD. The lawyer of two of the suspects, Peter Plasman, previously said that there was no concrete plan for an attack on politicians.

‘Mean talk’
According to the lawyer, the accusation is based on a ‘cheesy conversation’ that the suspects had while setting up a film. Bad texts were said in it and the politicians were mentioned. “But there has never been a serious plan, discussing how and who will do it,” he said in October last year.
