Wild goal party between SGS Essen and RB Leipzig

Despite a two-goal lead, the RB Leipzig footballers failed to gain further breathing room in the relegation battle of the women’s Bundesliga. At the start of the 13th matchday on Friday evening, the promoted women played against SGS Essen 4:4 (4:2).

Essen’s Laureta Elmazi (3rd) opened the scoring in the home stadium on Hafenstrasse, and Mimmi Larsson (14th) equalized just a little later.

Natasha Kowalski (25th) put the SGS in front again with a penalty kick, but within just two minutes Vanessa Fudulla (26th, 28th) turned the game around for Leipzig with a brace.

Frederike Kempe (39′) increased before the break, Kowalski (51′) and Rieke (59′) again tied the score.

With ten points, RB remains two points ahead of 1. FC Nürnberg in the first non-relegation spot. SGS Essen is in sixth place in the middle of the table with 18 points.
