Wild Chase! Police lockdown stops speeders

From the BZ editorial team

Wild chase on Saturday evening in Karlshorst! There, a speeder known to the police tried to flee from a control. Only a blockade by several police cars could stop him.

As the police announced on Sunday, the 41-year-old was noticed by the police around 11:15 p.m. in Weitlingstrasse because his Skoda had no lights on. The officers wanted to stop him.

But the driver, whom one of the police officers recognized, accelerated instead and sped away far too quickly. The man tried to escape by ignoring several red lights, with daring turning maneuvers and driving through a construction site.

The only thing that helped was a vehicle blockade, consisting of several police cars in the Treskowallee/Waldowallee area. The 41-year-old would have tried to go around the barrier, but would have had to reduce his speed and could have been switched.

During the subsequent arrest, the 41-year-old, who allegedly had taken drugs, put up considerable resistance. An officer used his tear gas sprayer. Only when the 41-year-old was handcuffed did he calm down.

Because he complained of pain, an ambulance was called and the arrested person was examined on site. No treatment was necessary. In police custody, blood was drawn from the man, who does not have a valid driver’s license and had appeared a few days earlier for driving without a license. He was then allowed to continue on foot.

The Skoda Octavia was confiscated as a crime. There was some significant damage to three vehicles!

Investigations into illegal motor vehicle racing, road hazard, resisting and driving without a license and under the influence of narcotics are ongoing.
