Wilco Release Alternate Version Of “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot”

Wilco re-release their 2002 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot to celebrate Record Store Day. Crosseyed Strangers: An Alternate Hotel Yankee Foxtrot will include live recordings of the songs Jesus, Etc., Heavy Metal Drummer, Radio Cure, Poor Places, Reservations and Pot Kettle Black” alongside various versions of “I’m the Man Who Loves You” and “War On War”.

Record Store Day falls on April 22 this year. For the first time in three years, it will be celebrated as usual on the third of April of the month. Independent record stores around the world have been celebrating the day since 2008, and have been supported in the past by the likes of Jack White and Iggy Pop. There are also some in Germany, there is a list of all participating shops in German-speaking countries here.

Originally compiled for the 20th anniversary of the Jeff Tweedy band’s album, Crosseyed Strangers was released on CD along with a deluxe edition of the record featuring 82 unreleased tracks. It won Best Historical Album at this year’s Grammy Awards.

There will only be a limited edition of 4,500 LPs for Record Store Day. It is still unclear whether some of these will also be sold in Germany, but it is very unlikely.
