Hollywood star Bruce Willis celebrated his 68th birthday on Sunday (March 19). Both his ex-wife Demi Moore and his wife Emma Heming Willis shared videos on Instagram to mark the event – with Heming Willis striking a much more emotional tone in her video. A year ago, Bruce Willis’ family revealed that the actor had aphasia – a speech disorder that affects all language skills. This condition has since evolved into dementia.

The 44-year-old entrepreneur begins the video by saying, “Today is my husband’s birthday. I started the morning crying as you can see from my swollen eyes and snotty nose. I just think it’s important that you see all sides of things.” She adds, “I always get this message, or people always say to me, ‘Oh, you’re so strong, I don’t know how you are you do that. I am given no choice. I wish I had one. But I’m also raising two kids, so in life sometimes we just have to be strong and go for it, and that’s what I’m doing. But I mourn every day and today, on his birthday, I feel it especially.”

In the second half of the video, Heming-Willis reveals that she is currently working on a birthday reel for her husband. “I don’t know why I’m doing this to myself because the videos are like a knife in my heart,” she says, having to keep it short so as not to burst into tears. “But as much as I’m doing it for me, I’m doing it for you guys too because I know how much you guys love my husband — don’t cry Emma — but it means so much to me, so thank you.”

Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore, with whom the Die Hard star has three daughters, Rumer, Tallulah Belle and Scout Rue, also posted a video to Instagram and wrote, “Happy birthday BW! I’m so glad we were able to celebrate you today. I love you and I love our family. Thank you everyone for the love and kind congratulations – we all feel it.”
