Wietze de Jager does not want to present Sky Radio’s morning show with his wife Lieke Veld, as suggested by Patrick Kicken. “Very bad idea.”
He had gold in his hands, but by incessantly complaining about his working hours, Wietze de Jager lost it: the prestigious morning show on Radio 538. His ambition was hard to find – at one point he shouted on the radio that he wants to go back to a four-day workweek – and that’s why Tim Klijn took over that program.
‘Weirdest thing ever’
Patrick Kicken, the most famous radio columnist in our country, has suggested several times in the past that it would be a golden opportunity to put Wietze and his wife on Sky Radio’s morning show. His wife Lieke Veld has also made radio for years; she left Qmusic in 2017.
Does Wietze think this is a good plan now that his radio career is at an end? No, he doesn’t want that either. He stirs up this proposal from Patrick when he is asked the following question in Beau Monde: “What is the weirdest thing you have ever read about yourself?”
‘Very bad idea’
The weirdest thing? This is Patrick’s proposal, says Wietze. “Some columnist (he apparently does not want to mention Patrick’s name, ed.) wrote a few years ago that Talpa Radio would do well to give Lieke and me a joint morning show on Sky Radio.”
He continues: “If you’re done with your relationship and want to make sure it’s broken within a few years, that’s a very good idea indeed, haha.”
‘Do not do it!’
It is not very surprising: Wietze even tried to keep Lieke away from Qmusic in the past. “If you both do the same job, you have a little less to talk about when you get home. “Don’t do it,” Wietze said. But I wanted it anyway,” said Lieke. “We agreed that if it didn’t work, I would be the first to leave.”
Anyway, we are now years further and Wietze is no longer really in the position to put an entire package of requirements on the table. However, he does not want a morning show with his wife either. So how does he maintain his extreme spending pattern?
250 euros
Wietze throws his 538 tons. For example, he buys ridiculously expensive items for his children. “In the maternity week after the birth of my eldest daughter, my wife saw a debit of 250 euros on our bank account. She asked what that was for, because I had only bought three rompers.”
He continues: “My answer was, ‘I must have the best of the best romper because it’s my daughter.’ When it comes to the kids, I like to spend money. And I can spend good money on experiences. A while ago I took my parents to De Librije, the star restaurant of Jonnie and Thérèse de Boer.”
Delicious. Two more complaints about his working hours and Wietze and his parents can grab a table at the local KFC next time.
