Founder Jerry Afriyie says that his goals have been achieved: Zwarte Piet has disappeared almost everywhere and, according to him, the conversation about racism has been normalized. But according to opinion maker Wierd Duk, the actions have a bitter aftertaste: ‘Kick Out Zwarte Piet has only led to more polarization.’ KOZP’s actions have aroused enormous anger and, according to Wierd Duk, this is reflected in the figures. Research by the Hart van Nederland panel shows that 70 percent of those surveyed find it acceptable if a Zwarte Piet is visible. 65 percent say that a soot sweeper is also acceptable.
