“I just want recognition,” that is the message from Henrieta Chovancova (43), the widow of Jozef Chovanec – the 38-year-old Slovak man who died in a Belgian police cell six years ago. After a fifteen-hour car journey, she arrived in Charleroi to attend the council chamber surrounding the death of her husband. What followed was a hellish and emotional day: “At one point she couldn’t even hear it anymore,” her lawyers say.
