An Afghan slits his wife’s throat in Berlin. The mother of six had described her (forced) marriage to the police as follows: “Married during the day, raped at night.” Day 8 in the Pankow femicide trial.
Zohra (31) dies on April 29, 2022: 13 knife wounds, throat cut on the street. Gul A. (42) has made himself a widower. Now he is threatened with life imprisonment. The independent lifestyle of the mother of six offended him, according to the indictment. Witnesses will testify on Tuesday.
A police officer (43): “During the interrogation on March 17, 2022, a hematoma was still slightly visible on her cheek. She said he also threatened her with death. He will kill her, he will not let her live in Germany, she is a whore, she is cheating. She said those were his favorite words. She was with the management of the home because she no longer wanted to be with him because she was scared to death. He demanded that she withdraw the complaint, otherwise he would cut her throat and stab her with a knife. She said she believed him. She said: He considers me his property.
A co-plaintiff’s attorney asks if the interrogator had considered applying for an arrest warrant against the man. Those were death threats. The police officer: “No, that’s almost hopeless in this situation.”
The joint plaintiff: “Did you doubt the truthfulness of what she said?”
The police officer: “No. But the social worker from the home said a few days later that the woman was no longer afraid and would go out on her own again.”
The mother of six had described her martyrdom to the police as follows: “I couldn’t choose my husband. Only in Germany did I realize that during the 14 years of marriage I was tortured by him during the day and raped at night. I have had to endure. Because my kids used to cry and say I have to endure it. Not only is it violent, it is also primitive.”
Judgment on February 2nd.
