Bad pictures in Malmo. Union’s game Thursday evening in southern Sweden (final score: 1-0) was about to be canceled in the second half. Pyros were ignited, rockets were fired at the lawn. From the Malmö side, but above all from Union chaos.
The iron threatens a penalty. Maybe a ghost game? Club boss Dirk Zingler (58): “I don’t think so. We’re freshmen who aren’t on parole or criminal records. But it should wake us all up. I don’t accept that. Nothing has to be on the lawn, nothing in the opposing blocks. That’s a taboo, ours know that too.”
Zingler clearly: “Today, limits have been crossed. I don’t accept that. There were some from our block, so we take responsibility, that’s very clear. We will be punished, that is also very clear. But I refuse to put the 1200 under general suspicion.”
The president also sees some of the blame on the opponent: “A lot was possible here that is not possible elsewhere. Of course, the organizer was completely understaffed. But we can’t blame it on those who don’t use many forces. We have to take responsibility ourselves.”
The Europa League will continue next Thursday. Zingler doesn’t believe there are problems in the local old forester: “We are better organized. We can handle such situations.” He will have to be measured by these words. The next opponent is called: Malmö FF.
