Pasta is quick and easy to prepare, but even that can go wrong. Especially with cooking.

The Pidot company that organizes food courses Delay Maskulin and Lilli Munck gave many pasta tips at the press conference organized by Mylly best.

These tips will help you:

1. Only cook the pasta last. Do not boil the pasta as soon as you start cooking.

2. The pasta is always mixed with the sauce – not the other way around. Remember that the pasta will continue to cook for a while while simmering in the hot sauce. You can lift the pasta out of the boiling water, for example, with a slotted spoon or a strainer.

3. Remember to save the pasta cooking water. With it, you can easily soften a sauce that is too dry, for example.

4. The appropriate amount of pasta per eater largely depends on the pasta quality. However, a good rule of thumb is to reserve around 70 g of uncooked pasta per diner.

5. Cooking the pasta starts when the water boils properly.

6. Do not blindly trust the cooking time indicated on the package, but always test the doneness by tasting. Also remember to use a clock when cooking, because few people know how long the pasta has been boiling. In the smell of cooking, seven minutes turns into ten or fifteen minutes without noticing.

7. When choosing olive oil, you should pay attention to when the olives were pressed. This information should be found on every bottle. The fresher the olive oil, the better. You should check the date on olive oils of all price categories.

8. You can easily get crushed tomatoes from fresh tomatoes by grating them.

9. You shouldn’t put leftover basil in the fridge, because basil doesn’t like the cold. Also, be careful not to over water your herb. Just add a few drops of water when the basil is about to wilt.

10. Herbs such as coriander and leaf parsley can be stored in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator or even on the door.

11. Don’t throw away the parmesan base. You can use the parmesan base to flavor pasta sauce, for example. Parmesan should be stored airily in its own container. It should not be wrapped in cling film, as it gets moldy easily.
