Why Rutte and the ‘left cloud’ strategically fight each other out

On March 15, the Netherlands will not only vote for the province and water boards, citizens will also indirectly elect the new members of the Senate. The Rutte cabinets have not had a majority in this chamber for more than 10 years, and must therefore count on the support of often left-wing parties – says editor Pim van den Dool. The growth of the BBB, JA21 and PVV raises the question of whether government policy will still be feasible after these elections.
