Why not? Already a carpentry village: ‘I like building and adventure’

Schagerbrug has the scoop with the first carpentry village in the region. It is anyway the first time that there is a carpentry village in the village. And with more than sixty registrations, it is already a success. Niels Kockx of the events committee is satisfied: “We thought: We’ll do it differently. At Pentecost the weather is always nice and we just wanted to organize something nice for the village again.”

“It’s great that we can hammer here, otherwise we would have to go all the way to Schagen.” – NH News / Jurgen van den Bos

As if it is already summer; carpentry village, nice weather and a long weekend in front of the door, everything is going well for the children from Schagerbrug. The team of Nan and Timo is looking forward to it: “We are making a house with a tunnel and another house attached to it. Otherwise we always had to go to Schagen and it is much quieter here. And you have more wood.”

‘Inspiring’

Eline and Frieda want a climbing wall in their house. Frida is already climbing up: “I think we’re making a kind of triangle house.” They read in the village newspaper that a carpentry village is coming. Elina was immediately enthusiastic: “I really like building, I like to go on an adventure, so now I can make an inspiring house.”

The children of Schagerbrug have until Sunday to build. A mayor is elected and a jury decides which hut or house is the most beautiful. Everything should be flat again on Sunday.

Niels Kockx: “Yes, that’s a shame, but this is the first time and when I see all those happy children and all the parents who cooperate, it certainly won’t be the last. It already makes me want more.” Frida and Eline think so too – or shout: “WE’RE LOOKING FOR IT!”
