‘Why not Ali B and Matthijs van Nieuwkerk?’

One transgressive behavior is not the same as the other: in one case it concerns rape, in the other case it concerns an angry look in the workplace. Yet sometimes everything seems to be lumped together, but is that right? Anouk doesn’t think so and expresses her support for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.

Ribbon cutter

After the book presentation of Özcan Akyol, Matthijs will soon also be present at the album presentation of Anouk. He seems to be turning into a kind of glorified ribbon cutter, says Privé editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds. “But he should know that himself,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.

In any case, it will do him good, Evert thinks. “He is coming back to people and that is important to him, because he did not dare to do that for a long time and I don’t think you should become the royal ribbon cutter who is on call everywhere to produce albums, books and whatever else. to reach. But if he enjoys it, he should do it.”

Type of therapy

Apparently this is part of Matthijs’ steps towards a big comeback. “I think it is a bit of therapy for him to get back among people and see that he is still loved. Everyone can have an opinion about that, but if he wants to support Eus or Anouk, who are we to say anything about it?”

Jordi Versteegden, show expert for De Telegraaf, indicates that he has mixed feelings. “I thought for a moment yesterday that Anouk was very resistant to it at the time on The Voice. That she also said goodbye to friends such as Ali B and so on, because of that transgressive behavior.”

Ali doesn’t, Matthijs does

Ali, who is accused of rape, has been dumped by Anouk. “But here at De Wereld Draait Door, the research is not yet finished and she will do business with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. I find that striking,” says Jordi.

Evert thinks there is a difference. “Maybe she thinks that interview in NRC is sufficient and she thinks: that is the other side of the story. Don’t forget that Matthijs has already been severely punished.”

Rape

Of course, Matthijs didn’t rape anyone, Evert clarifies. “It is not about rape, it is not about things that others are accused of, but about transgressive behavior in the context of making a program.”

He concludes: “You might be able to get over that after a year, especially if you were not the victim of it yourself and you can bet that Anouk was not.”
