Why was Mathijs van Nieuwkerk cancelled, but his horror sidekick Dieuwke Wynia not? It is incomprehensible, say critics. “She’s just a totally crazy bitch.”
Victims such as presenter Janine Abbring have experienced that not Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, but his editor-in-chief Dieuwke Wynia, was the great tyrant on the editorial staff of De Wereld Draait Door. Yet she escapes the dance completely; She is behind the scenes making nice programs and on the socials even jokes about the DWDD time.
Belittling Dieuwke
The well-known communications expert Lars Duursma finds it incomprehensible. “Janine Abbring also says at Buiten Beeld van: ‘I never actually had a problem with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, I didn’t actually have much contact with him. But Dieuwke Wynia, that is someone who cursed, banged doors, shouted at people, belittled people.’”
“She says: ‘I saw a manager, but also the bosses of the broadcaster and the HR department who did everything to please the presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and saw employees as completely interchangeable.’ She also says that Dieuwke literally threw a door in her face and said: ‘You better not face me now.’”
Screamed out of the office
Lars thinks it’s bizarre. He continues in the podcast The Communicados: “And when other jackals stood up for her, they were shouted out of the office. And then an email was sent to the entire editorial staff about what kind of journalistic ignoramus Janine Abbring is. And then I thought: I might find that email even worse than shouting.”
He says: “For in the heat of the moment, you are angry for a moment, then something happens. But if you then retreat behind your computer or behind your tablet and you take the time to send an entire email, you take the trouble to put all those people from the editorial staff in the too-field…”
‘She doesn’t get it’
Dieuwke can then no longer hide behind anything, says Lars. “You have so many moments to think about: is this really a good idea? If at some point you think: yes, this is what I’m going to do, then I don’t think you really understand how to deal with people.”
That Janine is completely off track, Lars thinks. “It also shows that the problem at De Wereld Draait Door was much broader than Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.”
Totally insane
Co-host Victor Vlam puts it even more firmly. “Yes, she had a moment of reflection and yet she escalated further. And that actually makes what Dieuwke Wynia did worse. I agree with you.”
She continues: “I find it really bizarre and it just strikes me as a completely crazy woman. A truly crazy woman. I mean, how do you get it into your head? This is just really not normal behavior.”
Real bad guy
Johan Derksen also thinks it is not normal that this Dieuwke gets away so easily with her horrible misconduct, he says in Today Inside. “The real bad guy, that bitch from Wynia, he’s avoiding the dance completely, isn’t he?”
Let us not forget her, says the VI star. “He did the dirty work, didn’t he? He wiped the floor with everyone and you don’t hear anyone complaining about that.”
