Facua-Consumers in Action has denounced to the Galician brand Pescanova before the Ministry of Consumption for marketing under the name of ‘Pasta del Mar’ three products that “are not really pasta”since they are not made with the ingredients that the regulations indicate must be used in order to use said term.
As Facua has lamented in a statement, Pescanova sells three products of its brand ‘La Pasta del Mar’ (Cod noodles, salmon noodles and hake spaghetti with cuttlefish ink) and in none of them is known to be made with semolina, semolina or wheat flour, despite the fact that these are essential ingredients to be called pasta, according to current legislation.
“In addition, the fish used as a claim in the name of each product They are not the only ones with which they are made. To the extent that in its so-called hake spaghetti, it only represents 17% of its compositionwhile 40% is fish protein,” added the consumer organization.
no specifications
For its part, in the cod noodles the presence of this fish is 37%, to which is added 28% of hake, while in the salmon noodles there is 36% salmon and 22% fish protein, without specifying which species.

The association points out that presenting these products with these denominations “misleads” consumers, that they can buy them under the belief that they are the only species of fish used in their respective compositions.
