Why don’t women win in “La Voz Argentina”?

“The Argentine Voice” reached its grand finale. The successful program of Telefe that knew how to harvest high rating points and participation of people in networks, gave the Chubutense as the winner Yhosva Montoyathe participant of the team captained by Soledad Pastorutti.

Montoya prevailed with 52.4% of the votes of the public to Angela Navarrothe participant of the team that commanded Lali Esposito, becoming a creditor of two million pesos and a contract with the Universal record company. But in networks the debate was: why did a woman “La Voz Argentina” never win?

And it is certainly all winners from past seasons they are men. Last year Francis Benitez He won the award for “La Voz Argentina”. Originally from a small town in Cordoba called Colonia Tirolesa, Benitez brought his life story to the program: despite his talent, he suffered from a stutter from a very young age.

And that story, and overcoming the difficulty gala after gala in the singing contest that is broadcast in the United States on NBC (“The Voice”), ended up consecrating it above Gaggi Light: another victory for Soledad Pastorutti’s team (the favorite of many viewers), with 44.3% of the public’s votes, which put it above the other candidates (Nicolás Olmedo and Ezequiel Pedraza).

But in the 2018 edition of the reality show, Braulio Assanelifrom the team of Ricardo Montaner, he kept the prize. In second place was Lucas Belbruno, from the Soledad team, and in third and fourth place were two women: Amorina Alday, from the Axel team, and Juliana Gallipoliti, from the Tini Stoessel.

Ángela Navarro garnered applause with her interpretation of “Oye”; from the musical “Dreamgirls”.

And in 2012, in the first season of the television hit, Gustavo Corvalan was the winner of the contest. From very humble origins and a bricklayer by profession, he was the first to win over the audience with his voice and his life story. The other finalists of that edition were Mariano Poblete (second place), Antonela Cirilo, the only woman to reach the final (third place), and Mateo Iturbide (fourth place).

“The reality show served as an initial kick to start with music and be able to live from it. Obviously, when the lights went out, everything started to cost more. And just then, she called me the sun to accompany her on a summer tour. And for me it was a very nice experience that also gave me the opportunity to continue working. But, honestly, I was afraid of what could happen later at the work level,” he said. Corvalan who still lives from his voice.

And the support of “the sun” his pupils are valued by the public, who defines the contest, and pushed him to win in three of four editions. A phenomenon that is also evident in the North American version, where the teams captained by country and folk legends (Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarksonwhich rose to fame by being chosen as the winner of the first season of another reality show: American Idol), who make their pupils the opening act for their shows, have won in more than half of the 22 editions.

And there also the men dominate on the podium, but with little margin, while in “La Voz Argentina”, Marley he asked himself, before introducing Navarro, “Will she be the first woman in history to win a music cycle here in Argentina?”. And the answer was negative, harvesting a cataract of tweets that insisted that the singer had had a better night than Yhosva Montoya.

Angela Navarro garnered applause with her interpretation of “Hears”, a version in Spanish of a song belonging to the musical “Dreamgirls”, which in its film version is performed by the singer Beyonce. But it was not enough. and the annoyance of Lali Esposito it was obvious.
