Why does Miss Finland still have to be unmarried?

How does a spouse calculate the value of a miss? asks Iltalehti editor Henna Koste.

The Miss Finland competition has changed radically over the years. This year, the bodies of the Miss Candidates will not be measured and no underwear photos will be taken during the tour. Also in the interviews at the Casting event, applicants are wearing clothes, not swimsuits.

Over the years, everything has been seen in the Miss Finland competitions. After one year the finalists have posed their bodies oiled in a bikini in the garage, the second year the contestants have been photographed in delicate wedding dress images.

Giving up measurements is just and only a joyous reform, but there is one rule that sits in the strong Miss Finland competition. The applicant must still be unmarried and childless.

This point is justified by the fact that the mission will then be able to create a career and represent possibly long periods in international competitions.

I realize that for a parent of a small child, this is a more challenging thing and may not just be going around the world. But would anyone tell me how a partner, let alone a marriage, affects it?

After more than 90 years of competition, the competition has taken steps in the right direction, how has this thing left for the Stone Age? It seems strange that celibacy is mentioned in the competition rules immediately after the criminal record.

Marjaana Savila reached the semi-finals of the race in 2017, but then his mission dream was shattered due to a rule violation. Savila had previously been married but divorced. He thought and interpreted that would be enough. I would have thought the same way myself.

At that time, he was the CEO of Finnartist Oy Sunneva Sjögrén justified In an interview with MTVthat misses are, by their name, virgins and that a man can be unmarried only once, that is, it is not enough to be divorced.

Sjögrén also explained to Iltalehti this week that all the rules are in line with the Miss Universum competition and other international competitions. However, he said he was behind the rules.

How is a spouse seen as a threat to Miss’s career? If a Spouse prevents you from creating a career, has anything already gone wrong? How does a spouse calculate the value of a miss?

Lots of questions, little justification. Even the few are the “rules are rules” section, as Sjögrén once explained in an interview with MTV.

You have made great reforms to the Miss Finland competition in recent years. Could this ideal of virginity also be achieved?
