“Why does he stay on the tube?”

Winston Gerschtanowitz, with his extremely low viewing figures, is astonishing for viewing figures expert Tina Nijkamp, the former broadcaster boss of SBS 6. “Why does this stay on the channel?!”

It is without a doubt one of the biggest flops of the past year: the Winston Gerschtanowitz show The Best Answer. After 272 thousand and 211 thousand viewers for the first two episodes, there were even fewer people ready for the third episode yesterday, on Sunday evening: 208 thousand people watched (6 percent market share).

Dramatic evening

Viewership professor Tina Nijkamp thinks it is astonishingly low. “Another dramatic night for SBS 6 with even lower marks for The Best Answer, the latest quiz from Winston Gerschtanowitz,” she writes on her ratings juice channel.

Why is this program not taken off the tube by SBS 6? “The only reason that this program is still being broadcast is probably because it is sponsored by the Postcode Lottery and therefore also includes sponsorship moments and perhaps also direct mails to customers about this program.”

There is really no other reason to keep Winston on the tube, according to Tina. “I can’t think of anything else, because even a repeat of Wegmisuseers would score double and would be a lot better in line with the repeat of Alberto Stegeman. It now also had only 205 thousand viewers.”

Winston scores even worse than colleague Sander Lantinga’s quiz, which was taken off the TV in June. Four Is Too Much was thrown in the trash after only two episodes, because only 246 and 233 thousand people watched.
