“Why do you want to be a benefactor on TV?”

Jan Slagter, the boss of Omroep MAX, is brutally attacked by Aaf Brandt Corstius. She is annoyed by the MAX Makes Possible program, in which he helps vulnerable elderly people abroad.

According to Aaf Brandt Corstius, it is a sign of enormous vain that Jan Slagter always has his help for vulnerable elderly recorded by his own camera teams. “He is very often in Hungary in a village somewhere, in such a poop village, handing out bread,” her co-host Marc-Marie Huijbregts notes in their podcast Marc-Marie and Aaf Tell Something

Benefactor

That gives Aaf the shivers. “Oooh, as a benefactor. Yes, he likes that too, yes.”

Marc-Marie critical: “I always think: you shouldn’t do that yourself, I think.”

Aaf: “Yes, or you have to do it, but you don’t have to broadcast it all that you are doing it. Go hand out some good bread, right? You can do that without asking for a camera.”

Marc-Marie: “And then the jolly… No.”

Vaknam

Then Aaf and Marc-Marie realize that they are speaking very unkindly about someone who is relentlessly committed to vulnerable elderly people in emergency situations. Marc-Marie: “No, we’ll stop here. We think it’s really good what Jan Slagter is doing.”

Aaf: “Yes, what a professional that is. Yes, because he is also one of those people who will actually send you an email, huh?”

Marc-Marie: “What he does in Hungary, I don’t know where, in Moldova or something. He goes by the smell a bit and there he goes to bring bread. I think that’s really good, great!”

descent

Jan Slagter is a kind of persona non grata in Aaf’s circles. He is also always taunted in Media Inside, the TV program of her husband Gijs Groenteman. There they find Jan a ‘people’s deputy’.

It has caused bad blood in Jan. “Actually, I don’t want to waste words on this. There’s no dog watching that show, they’re just a bunch of suckers.”
