Luis Barrionuevo never had feeling with Cristina Kirchner. Until now.
Back in March 2003, in the prehistory of Kirchnerism, Barrionuevo was a senator and shared a bench with the current vice president. Back then, CFKas president of the Constitutional Affairs Commission, initiated a process of expulsion from the Senate for considering him the instigator of the suspension of the governor elections that had taken place earlier that month and in which it was denounced that the urns. Barrionuevo finished off. Peronism rescued him with political alignments that, seen with the prism of today, are striking. They supported the project Cristina Kirchner, among others, Gerardo Morales and Vilma Ibarra, who at that time had a good bond with her. They voted againstJJorge Capitanch, Diana Conti, José Alperovich and even José Mayans, which today does not move without Cristina’s approval. Another Argentina.
Since then, Barrionuevo always worked against Cristina Kirchner. He was the toughest trade unionist with his government, to the point that he supported the candidacy of Serge Massa in 2013, when he confronted Kirchnerism, and also He was an ally of Mauricio Macri.
In 2018 he said that Cristina was the “demon”. In 2019 she accompanied the candidacy of Robert Lavagna and said that Kirchnerism was seeking “impunity” and that “those who are inside go out and those who have to go in, don’t go”, referring to those imprisoned for corruption during the government of CFK. At the same time he said that Alberto Fernandez he was “a rogue and a lively man who never worked”. For many years, he never attempted a rapprochement with Kirchnerism. But now something changed.
In the last year, Barrionuevo’s power in the Gastronomic Union was challenged by his former brother-in-law Dante Camano, brother of his ex-wife, Grace. Dante leads the Barrionuevo union in the Buenos aires city. In parallel, this guild was one of the hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. And it continues to be one of the industries that is having a hard time recovering the level of activity, despite the impulses and programs launched by the Government to promote tourism. In addition, the union led by Barrionuevo is one of those targeted for a labor reform, which would seek to make the conditions for hiring and firing in bars and restaurants more flexible. Their constituents do not like this.

This present explains much of the decline in Barrionuevo’s bellicosity. He is no longer as hard on Kirchnerism as he was before. He now praises them and thanks them for the policies they carried out. This was reported to the Minister of the Interior, camper Eduardo “Wado” De Pedro, who participated in a congress of the Gastronomy Union in Mar del Plata. The balance of the pandemic for the sector was 100,000 fewer workers, according to Barrionuevo himself, despite having received help from the Government with the ATP and the Pre-Travel program.
In that act, the praise was reciprocal and takes on special relevance for being “Wado” by Peter who exposes them, because he is one of the most important officials that Cristina has in the Government (and until two years ago, Barrionuevo said that CFK had to be imprisoned).
In his speech, De Pedro stated that at the beginning of the pandemic Barrionuevo called him and told him: “We are the largest union in the country and the most affected.” At that time, De Pedro told him to count on him and they began to work on options to compensate for the losses caused by the coronavirus. “I think you were one of the founders of the ATP, right?” “Wado” asked Barrionuevo. Timidly, he nodded. Barrionuevo did not want to give more details about his rapprochement with Kirchnerism, because all the questions about the last years of fighting and criticism would immediately arise. NOTICIAS tried to communicate with him, but he did not want to speak with this medium.
The Barrionuevo and “Wado” It is an alliance that suits both of them. On the one hand, the minister joins wills outside of hard Kirchnerism and, on the other, the unionist gets support in a time of lean cows, both at the union and personal level. Separated from his ex, and without the most important branch of his union, he will have difficult years ahead of him.
