Motor riders greet each other. If they come across another motorcyclist, the left hand goes up or there is a short nod. That sounds simple, but it is not always. Because do you also greet the other person if, for example, there is a roadside strip between your side of the road and that of the other? Those are issues.

Motorcyclist needs all hands and feet

What makes it not easy is to control the engine itself. Sometimes you just pull and you come across another motorcyclist. Then it is possible that you just need the left hand to link and so you only fill with a short movement.

Dark blue license plate on a modern car or motor: is that allowed?

A motor has six controls: the handlebar, the throttle under the right hand, the front brake at the right hand, the rear brake at the right foot, the coupling at the left hand and the gear lever at the left foot.

Kick to other motorcyclists and cars

If you, as a motorcyclist on the highway, catch up with another motorcyclist, you cannot greet with your hand, because otherwise you will let the gas go. That’s why you make a kicking movement with your right foot, which at that moment has nothing to do.

‘Kick’ motorcyclists do cars ever? Less often, but that is certainly possible. Motor riders can navigate through the traffic jam and appreciate it as a motorist just before she goes aside. As a thank you, they then light their left hand or lift their right foot for a moment.
