The General Inspection of Justice (IGJ) required the Lighthouse Foundationhe think tank led by the libertarian political scientist Agustín Lajewhich identifies who made the main donations that the organization declared having received during 2024. The body, which reports to the Minister of Justice Juan Bautista Mahiquesnotified the foundation on June 1st and gave him a period of ten business days to respond, as revealed by the Chequeado site. If you do not do so in a timely manner, you are exposed to sanctions ranging from a public warning to a fine of up to 8 million pesos for each violationamount set by Decree No. 609/2024 and updated semiannually, as revealed by Chequeado.

The requirement is framed in article 419 of General Resolution IGJ No. 15/2024, which obliges civil associations and foundations to present a sworn declaration on the legality and origin of the funds when the donations received exceed the 40 vital and mobile minimum wages in a period of 30 calendar days. In December 2024, that threshold was equivalent to $11 million (about US$10,630). The required document, known internally as “Annex XIII”, must accompany the financial statements and the Faro Foundation had never presented it.

The trigger was the 2024 balance that the organization itself presented to the IGJ. There is an item called “Donations, Courses, Workshops and Prevention” for a total of $4,957,118,605equivalent to about US$4.8 million at the exchange rate of December 31, 2024. The figure is a huge jump compared to the previous year: when the entity was still called Valorar Foundationin 2023 he had declared just $49 million in income and a net worth of $12 million. Last year that heritage rose to $4,394 millionan increase of 356 times in twelve months.

The balance sheet does not specify who the donors were nor does it allow us to track whether the funds came in during the call.Solidarity Dinner» from November 13, 2024, an event in which the president participated Javier Milei and that the foundation itself presents as a founding milestone. The IGJ also notified other observations: it asked Faro to regularize signatures, clarify the documentary overlap with the former Valorar Foundation and present the financial statements for the 2025 financial year before the June 30deadline of the current extension. The foundation’s spokesperson did not respond to queries from the Chequeado site as of the closing of this note.
