Nearly thirty people are interested in becoming mayor of the municipality of Westerveld. The current mayor Rikus Jager will leave next spring. Eighteen men and nine women are interested in following in his footsteps.
Interested parties had until yesterday to respond to the vacancy. Eight of the applicants are members of the VVD, six of the CDA, four of the PvdA, one member of the Christian Union and one is a member of a local party. Seven of those interested are not members of a political party or have not mentioned one.
A number of candidates are selected from the 27 responses. The King’s Commissioner will soon be holding talks with them. The candidates will then have a job interview with the so-called confidential committee. This committee was put together by the Westerveld municipal council.
She ultimately gives advice to the municipal council and nominates two candidates. If the council agrees with that advice, the preferred candidate will be announced.
